Dysport® Treatment & Individualized Dosing
Dysport® dosing is measured in product-specific units and is individually determined for each patient. Treatment recommendations may vary based on the treatment area, aesthetic goals, age, muscle strength and activity, facial anatomy, and the provider’s clinical assessment.
Because each patient’s needs are unique, there is no one-size-fits-all dose. Your provider will evaluate your facial anatomy and muscle activity to develop a personalized treatment plan designed to achieve balanced, natural-looking results.
Important: Dysport® units are specific to Dysport® and are not interchangeable or directly comparable to the units or dosing of other botulinum toxin products, including Botox®, Xeomin®, or other neuromodulators. A previous treatment with another botulinum toxin does not establish an equivalent Dysport® dose.
What to Expect During a Dysport Treatment Session
Before injecting Dysport, your provider will use a tiny, fine needle to inject small amounts of wrinkle relaxer into your skin and/or muscles. The number of injections administered will depend upon the size of the area being treated and the exact complaint being addressed. It usually takes about 10-15 minutes to administer Dysport injections. These are quick, and you can be in and out of your appointment.
After the procedure, you can resume normal activities immediately. You should avoid rubbing the treated area as this may cause the product to move into another part of the face. Some patients experience minor redness or bruising at the injection site, which can be covered with makeup with minimal problems.
The most common possible side effects are nose and throat irritation, headache, injection site pain, injection site skin reaction, upper respiratory tract infection, eyelid swelling, eyelid drooping, sinus inflammation, and nausea.
